World Strides DC/NYC Student Trip – June 2015
Approximately 25-30 Kalakaua Middle School students will participate in a Social Studies-based trip to Washington D.C. and New York City for the first week of June 2015. Through the World Strides organization, students will be able to learn about historical events and figures at places such as the Holocaust Museum, Smithsonian, 9/11 National Memorial, and more! Students will encounter new experiences such as learning about the lives lost for our country, walking on the streets of New York City and seeing a Broadway play! This is a great opportunity for our KMS students to see a world outside of their own, learn about the past and present U.S., and broaden their dreams and goals! Most of our high poverty Kalihi students and parents are solely relying on fundraising to cover the total cost -- $3000 (flight, transportation, admission, meals included for 6-7 days) per student, so we will be tirelessly fundraising throughout the school year to March (payment due date). Please consider helping us by donating items to fundraise, donating financially, or providing any helpful resources or suggestions.
