We are READERS! (New pics added!)

At Kalakaua Middle School, we are READERS!
Every day we all use reading in some form or fashion at school or at home, at work or at play.
Reading is extremely important to be successful in life!
Make it your personal goal to read something everyday.

To meet your Million Word Campaign quarterly goals:

You'll need to read a minimum of 30 minutes a day (more is better!)

After finishing a book, take and pass AR (Accelerated Reader) tests!

Keep track of your daily reading & AR tests by logging it in your reading log.

Submit your reading log ON TIME!

GOOD READERS...

...read daily.
...read books across genres.
...have a favorite book or author they can talk about.
...create images in their mind as they are reading.
...ask questions about the story or characters as they are reading.
...determine what is important to remember while reading.
...use their background knowledge to help them understand what they are reading.
...make connections as they are reading (text to text, text to self, text to world).
...make inferences (predictions/guesses) while they are reading.
