The Fair is modeled after the International Science and Engineering Fair and the Hawaii State Science and Engineering Fair. It is a partnership between Honolulu District schools and Kapi`olani Community College.
The student participants entering the Science Fair competition will adhere to strict scientific rules and requirements. It will duplicate real-world scientific investigation. Students and their project advisors from the Honolulu District schools will exhibit their science/math projects.
The research project judging criteria are:
1) Creative Ability
2) Scientific Method / Engineering Design
3) Thoroughness and Knowledge of Concepts
4) Competence/Skills
5) Communication/Clarity
The display project criteria are:
1) Creative Ability
2) Scientific and Technical Accuracy / Thoroughness
3) Instructional Value/Significance
4) Dramatic Value/Visual Quality
5) Communication
6) Craftsmanship/Skill and Competence
