From February 28 - March 2, a WASC (Western Association of Schools & Colleges) accreditation team will be visiting Kalakaua Middle School! This team will be studying and analyzing our school: visiting and observing classrooms, observing school operations, talking with students, teachers, administrators and PARENTS! This accreditation process is to assure that we are a trustworthy institution of learning and fosters improvement of our school's programs and operations to support student learning. It is important that our school receives the accreditation because it validates and certifies the integrity of our school's programs and our students' transcripts. Farrington High School is also going through this process at the same time as our school so it is important for you to know that this accreditation process will follow your child to high school. It is also important for Kalakaua to pass accreditation as some colleges and universities only consider applicants who have graduated from an accredited school.
You can help your child by talking to them about taking school seriously and always striving to do their best. More information about the accreditation process will be coming home with your child over the next week.
