KMS Choir Places 3rd in Competition!

On April 2nd, 21 students from KMS participated in the Annual Middle School Chorus competition at Waipahu intermediate.

There were 9 schools competing this year, from Niu Valley Middle all the way to Kapolei intermediate. Our neighbor Dole Middle school was also in the competition.  It was a fierce, serious competition with 5 judges, some were from the music industry:  Weldon Kekauoha (multiple Na Hoku Hanohano award winner) and the Mana'o company band members (also Na Hoku Hanohano winner).  There were two Oahu/Honolulu Chorus/chorale directors who also served as judges for the competition.

Our chorus started with Glorious by David Archuletta and ended with the Cup song from the movie Pitch Perfect. The students wowed the judges and other schools with their solo parts and harmony. In the end, Kalakaua was placed 3rd behind Waipahu intermediate (2nd) and Kapolei Intermediate (1st place); which was really good considering we're competing against schools who have a more established elective chorus program.

Please congratulate the following students if you see them.
